Background
The European Cup 2009, or Women’s European Trophy (WET), is this year played in Sweden between May 17 and 23. The teams are separated into two groups with four teams in each, where the winner of each group gets a trophy and, not least, qualifies for the Women’sRugby World Cup (WRWC) in England 2010.
The tournament participants are Sweden, Spain, Holland, Russia, Germany and Belgium. To this the 5th and 6th placed teams of the 2009 RBS 6 Nations will be added.
Sweden are ranked 6th of the eight teams, but as ranking does not always reflect the current form, the Swedish ladies hope that their form and home advantage can take them all the way. As organizers and spectators we can only wish for twelve tough, tight and entertaining games (and for our respective favourite team to win :) |
